Lagoon Day

The kids and I went to Lagoon with Teresa and her kids and Kim and her girls--Andy came later in the day too. It was a great day!! We missed being with Chris though--he was backpacking in the Uintahs with his scouts. Lots of fun rides all day long. I have found that I can't ride on any of the big rides any more. I almost lost my cookies on the big roller coaster and it didn't even do any twirly or upside down maneuvers. Ugh! Getting old sucks sometimes.

Hill Air Force Day

The kids and I went to Hill Force Museum. I was going to take them to Salt Lake on the train again with more cousins, but I was going to go house hunting, so they were very gracious in going to the museum instead. I love their questions when they are learning about new things to them. I wish I new all of the answers.

Peila Family Reunion

My mom and Aunt Vivi are the only 2 daughters of my grandparents, Victor and Marjorie Peila. We had such a fun family reunion this past weekend up at a church campground in the Uintahs, Aspen Crest. We had a lot of fun with all of our cousins, aunts, uncles, and some new additions of fiances. We had great food, bubble blowing contests, forts, damn building--my toe was a casualty in the river, boating, raft riding, fishing, hiking, relaxing, talking, s'more roasting, story reminiscing, and just a bond-building experience. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for your legacy!

Crazy, Busy Summer!!

Where has the summer gone?! Here is where ours has gone the last few days:

Saturday, July 18, 2009
  • Ogden's Farmer's Market
  • Great Harvest Bread
  • Shaved Ice
  • House hunting
  • Drive-in movie with Kevin, Stacy and kids and saw Andy, Kim, and kids. We watched Ice Age III and the first part of Night at the Museum.

Sunday, July 19, 2009

  • Chris, Allie, and Cooper stayed home from church as they all didn't feel well.
  • They all felt better, so we went house hunting.
  • Went to my mom and dad's and hung out for a while with Denise, Roger and their kids.

Monday, July 20, 2009

  • made phone calls for Chris for the Focus 4 Run to get sponsors and got 2 big ones: Winegars and Cream O Weber. You can run it August 22nd. Check out the website at www.focus4run.com
  • Maggie taught the FHE lesson on Keeping the Sabbath Day holy.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

  • Took the kids to Harry Potter. We all loved it and they all sat through it--one potty break in the middle.
  • Went to Costco--always an adventure.
  • Chris took the kids hiking to Waterfall Canyon and saw a 1 foot long baby rattlesnake. Quite the adventure and I took Allie swimming--we didn't think she would make it as well hiking.

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

  • Went to lunch with Lucy and kids. My kids love hanging out with them as do I.
  • Went to Willard Bay with Denise, Travis, Kristen, Austin, and Mariluz. All the kids love to ride on SeaDoos or Jet Skis or whatever you call them. It was a blast! As I was driving, Allie would scream "Weee-hooo!" All of them loved it!
  • We listed our house tonight with Coldwell-Banker! Ahhhh!!! Our house is not ready yet--too much to do.
  • I still need to go grocery shopping and pack for camping tomorrow through Saturday with the Davidson side of the family and it is now 8:14. Writing on my blog is my relaxation.

Kelli and David's Wedding--July 17, 2009

We had a fun day enjoying all of the festivities for Kelli and David for their wedding yesterday. They were married in the Bountiful Temple. After the temple they had a wedding luncheon in Perry and then the reception that evening. It was a long. but enjoyable day. (Cooper wouldn't let me take any pictures of him, so I am glad I got one with his bow tie on...refer to the previous post.)

Skirts and Bow ties

My niece, Kelli, is getting married on Friday. Allie and Maggie are going to be present girls. I asked Kelli if she wanted them to wearing matching dresses for the reception. She liked that idea and so I have been looking for 5 dresses or skirts for all of the little girls. Well, I couldn't find any, so I am using the leftovers from the bridesmaid dresses--her colors are aqua blue, lime green, and brown. Denise thought I would need a pattern, but I made up my own. It is fun to create things that turn out well--I thought they were cute anyway. I also made 11 bow ties for all of the groomsmen and servers and Cooper. It has been a little time consuming, especially trying to get my house clean to put up for sale. Never enough time in the day!

Accidents come in threes

Don't accidents always come in threes? I had my share. I had the tire blowout on Friday night. While draining the potatoes for potato salad on Saturday morning, the collander shifted and shot the boiling, hot water out onto my tummy. Ouch! Very tender for 2 days. On Sunday, I had set some hamburgers on the glass outdoor table at Chick and Dianne's house while waiting for the bbq to get hot. I reached for the hamburgers without touching anything and the table shattered into what seemed like millions of glass pieces. I was barefoot and walked away without a scratch. I am done with my accidents for a while!

JCH Bowling Reunion

We had a fun and creative family reunion thanks to Aunt Linda and Uncle Don's family. We met at the WSU bowling alley and had lunch and bowled. Great times for everyone. Chris tried to get Kim to dance like the Swiss Family Robinson family, but got Andy to do it instead. I tried to get my camera out, but they had stopped by then. The kids had a fantastic time and so did Chris and myself.

Highway Patrolman to the Rescue!

I went to dinner with some old roommates last night. Helena, who is visiting from New York, Anne, Kara and I all met in Murray. We had a great time chatting and catching up--and finding out about colonics. ;) After a good 3 1/2 hours, I headed home in Chris' car. Well, before I went to Murray, I had to stop and get gas. After filling up, I happened to look at the front tire and noticed it was a little low. I had a distinct voice tell me, "Fill it up. It could blow out on you." Well, I thought, "Oh, it will be alright," and got on the freeway. I made it down to Murray just fine and headed home at 10:40 p.m. Well...I didn't make it home just fine. My tire did blow out on me in the middle of the freeway right before the I 80 East interchange. I got the car over to the shoulder and didn't know what to do. I got out and thought about changing it there in the dark with cars whipping by me going 80 mph. I didn't do that. I called Chris and he said he would come. I didn't want him out on the shoulder changing a flat either, so we both thought I should call the highway patrol. Good thing for cell phones. I called 911 and dispatch sent out an officer. He had the tire changed in no time and he said I did the right thing. The officer said I should get more air in the spare donut, so I took the first exit off I 80. Well at 11:30 at night, gas stations do not have the highest calliber customers available--especially where I was in Salt Lake. I was there with a lot of gang looking people in black SUVs--okay, I might be profiling, but it sure looked that way. A man offered to help me fill up my tire and another young man helped me back out without hitting his SUV. I made it home just fine with Chris waiting on the front porch for me. I said a prayer apologizing to Heavenly Father for not listening to the Holy Ghost and thanked him for protecting me.

Kelli's Wedding Shower

I can't believe my niece is getting married in 6 days!!! Maggie and I went to her wedding shower this morning. It was a "time" shower and our time was 8:00 a.m. Well, Chris would think lingerie would be appropriate at all times of the day, but we opted for breakfast items: bowls, cereal, Apple Jacks cereal straws, hot chocolate, rubbermaid containers for lunches, cups, plates, serving utensils, and of course garbage cans. (Maybe they can be used for large cereal bowls.) And we found a big enough bag to fit it all in.

Cooper is now officially off training wheels. We tried in the fall, but he got too scared and had me put them back on. Thanks to Kim and Andy and their balance bike, he could zip around on that with no problems. Tonight was the first go on his real bike with pedals. He did not even hesitate once and off he went. Cooper first tried it out on his little bike and then we moved him over to his bigger bike. He loves that he is a two-wheeler now. Big smiles were on his face as he zipped around!

Happy 4th of July!

Yesterday was a fun day: Riverdale parade with lots of candy, doing some chores, a great family picnic at the Meikles which included 4 hours of swimming, sparklers, and then on to fireworks in Hooper. Great day yesterday!
