Easter Hunt at the Hislops

We did our Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Lance Hislop's yesterday, but we also did a first annual Egg Hunt at Grandma and Grandpa Hislop's house after church today. (Last week, we egg hunted at Grandna and Grandpa Davidson's.) They had so much fun hunting today, they rehid them themselves.

Easter Day

This year for Easter, I made the girls' dresses out of the pre-smocked fabric. They were way easy and the girls loved them. Cooper got a new tie since he had shirts and a suit already. (The tie was just as expensive as a dress.) We think they looked super cute!

Field Trip Time for Allie at Dinosaur Park

Allie and I were able to go on the bus together to Dinosaur Park. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed ourselves together--we also had 5 other kids in our group to keep track of too.

Show and Teach

Cooper was able to teach his class about piano. He had a visual aid that he showed and taught from and then he played his new recital piece, "Inspector Gadget," for them. He did an awesome job.

A New Camera

Our other camera went wacko on me, so the day before Christmas, I bought a Fuji point and shoot camera at Cost-co. I ended up hating that one. Cost-co has a 90 day return policy on electronics and cameras. I took it back on day 89. They gave me a full refund. This time, I did a little more research and bought a Panasonic Lumix. So far, I have really liked it. Cooper was my willing guinea pig and wanted his picture taken--he needed a face washing, but that's part of being a 7 year old boy.

Newly Decorated Rooms

I have wanted to paint the kids' rooms since we moved in 1 1/2 years ago. Maggie's got painted right before school started in August 2010. Cooper's and Allie's rooms just received their magic coats of paint the first part of April. ( I had bought the paint in July.) My friend, Amie, did the vinyl lettering for their walls. I think they all turned out cute. I made the message boards for each of them to match their rooms. The sport's balls above Cooper's closet were made from burner covers bought at the dollar store--Thanks Kim for the idea. The butterflys around Maggie's mirror were bought at a yard sale for a quarter and were the 1970's brass butterflys. We just gave them a fresh coat of paint. Allie's flower decals were also bought at a yard sale for a quarter. Allie's desk chair came from a yard sale. It was beat up and brown. I just gave it a new coat of paint and covered the seat with Tinkerbell fabric. I love being creative and getting things for a deal. Ahhh! The simple pleasures of life!!
