Utah Hornets

Maggie is back row- second from right and Makayla is right in front of her.

Maggie has been playing soccer all summer on a competition team with Makayla. She has practiced faithfully 2 times a week since June. Today was their first real game. They did awesome! The score didn't show it though. (They Add Imagelost 8-0) They'll get better as they continue playing and practicing. We were proud of our Maggie girl. She played her heart out and is excited for tomorrow's game too.

Surprise! Disneyland or Bust!!

We wanted to surprise our kids with a fun trip to Disneyland and surprise we did. We told them we were going to St. George and going to the Tuachan production of "The Little Mermaid." We didn't really lie when we said Little Mermaid, we were going to the "Real" Little Mermaid. We left on Saturday, July 23rd with Mesquite, NV setas our destination to go to a crableg buffet.

Well, we got about 3 hours into our trip and had to pull over in Scipio, UT because of car problems. We were in Scipio for about 7 hours because our transmission quit working. We had to have it towed to Orem to the nearest Tanner Transmission because that is where we had had it replaced 16 months ago. Note to all: Never go to Tanner Transmission. We have had 2 in 16 months and $5000. But we were blessed in all that mess. Lisa came to pick us up, but then called back and said, "Kory and I want you to take our van and finish your vacation." Wow! Another blessing was that Sam and her kids were passing by at the same time coming home from California and were able to pick Lisa up and take her back home. Heavenly Father works in mysterious ways. I had prayed that the van would work properly, but it didn't. But Heavenly Father blessed us with Lisa, Sam, and Chris's work. His bosses paid for our $2400 bill of the transmission. Wow and Double Wow!!

Our crableg buffet was not meant to be, but we made it to Mesquite about midnight. We went to church the next day and told the kids where we were going. It didn't turn out like the commericials with the kids screaming for joy. We got them Disney tshirts to give them when we told them where we were going. The girls just stood there thinking we were teasing and Cooper hated his shirt, so he started pouting. I almost started to cry because of what we had already been through the day before and then the kids not reacting with excitement. Well, the girls said, "Really?!" and then showed some excitement. The kicker was that I had been to 3 different stores for a shirt for Cooper and then he acted like that. He improved though. Well after all of the drama we then headed to California. Another note to self: Don't travel towards California from Las Vegas on a Sunday. It was a parking lot. What should have been about 4 hours was 7 hours. Ugh. We had fun though in the van. Oh, another blessing was that our video wasn't working in our van and Lisa's was.

Pure Gumby Cane

Chris organized a Ragnar team for June 17-18. They ran 188 miles from Logan to Park City with 12 members in two vans. In Chris's van: Chris, Teresa, Chick, Scott Rasmussen, Mark Andersen, and Jeff Kelsey. In van two, Holly Casebolt from our ward, organized that one with her family . There were several fun stories that I don't remember, so Chris will have to update the blog. He loved doing it and is doing it again in 2012.

Happy 6th birthday to Alice--or Allie

Allie decided she wanted an "Alice in Wonderland" party. Her actual birthday was on Sunday, so we had a party at home with both sets of grandparents. She wanted breakfast in bed, so that is what Princess Allie got. She ate and opened presents in bed. That night we made pictures of Wonderland to hang up. She even fell asleep while coloring. We set up the Mad-hatter's
tea party outside the next day on June 13th, but had to move it indoors because of rain and wind. She had sooo much fun with her friends and cousins that came--Alicia, Makayla, Drew, Wakely, Annika, Alayna, Isabel, McKenzie--and of course Maggie and Cooper. For dinner that night we went to Javier's and she got an ice cream caramel sundae. Allie got to blow out candles 3 different times. I can't believe my baby is 6!

Apollo, God of Music

I saw this statue of Apollo at a yard sale and bought it for $5. We then drove it over to Ruth's house, our piano teacher, and put it in her yard. She laughed when she saw it. I told her she needs to put it on her piano--it is huge by the way.

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school. I got a picture of Allie with her teacher, Mrs. Barker. She loved kindergarten. (I didn't get pictures of Maggie or Cooper--whoops!)

"I Love You Mom"

Cooper drew me a heart on the driveway that took him a long time and a lot of pink chalk. Isabel helped him color it. He was so proud of his drawing. Love my boy!

Crazy Hair Day

Cooper wouldn't let me cut his hair because he was saving it for crazy hair day. He really wanted a mohawk. Well, we did a tall faux-hawk. After school, I cut the hawk part off. He loved it though. On the girls' hair-dos, we just made some fun stuff. Nothing too drastic. Maggie is growing her hair to donate to Locks Of Love, so hers is extra long.

Annie

Rich and Jackie of Coldwell Banker, our real estate agents, always do a customer appreciation play every year at Terrace Playhouse. This year was "Annie." The girls were way excited to go, but especially this year, because they knew Annie. She was played by Kiersten Cragun, a friend they play soccer with. She did a wonderful job and we had a great time.

Easter Hunt at the Hislops

We did our Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Lance Hislop's yesterday, but we also did a first annual Egg Hunt at Grandma and Grandpa Hislop's house after church today. (Last week, we egg hunted at Grandna and Grandpa Davidson's.) They had so much fun hunting today, they rehid them themselves.
