Maggie's Drive-In

Maggie is a reading machine! At her school they have an AR (accelerated reading) program to promote reading. Each quarter they have a goal and when they reach that goal, they have an AR party. This quarter's party was a Drive-in. They were to make a car and then they could sit in it to watch a movie with the treats they earned. (Maggie's goal was 20 points and she had 77 points.) It was fun to make the car together. She even designed a trunk to put her blanket and pillow in.

My $20 Bosch

I saw a Bosch at a yard sale on Saturday. I inquired how much. "$30." I asked if it worked. "Yes, but it is a little noisy." I asked if they would take $20 for it. Sold. I got it home and it barely worked. It sounded very 'sick!' Oh, no I wasted $20. Well, I let it be for a couple days and then said to myself, "Self, let's see if we can get this thing to work." Only one setting worked out of 3 before I started. I cleaned up the insides and the circuits and washed everything. I put it back together, and VOILA! It works!! I fixed all of the settings. The funny thing is I already have a great mixer/blender combo, but I couldn't pass up a Bosch. So, now I have two!

Posing for Mommy

I didn't ever take pictures in their new Easter clothes this year, so yesterday I had them pose for me. It looks like Allie and Cooper grew a lot, but they were standing on rocks in the flower bed.

Star Wars Cake

I have decided that I really like to create cakes. I love shows like "The Ultimate Cake-off" and "The Cake Boss." I told Lucy that I would make a Star Wars cake for Tate's 4th birthday tomorrow, so I looked some up on line and voila, this is what I created. I love to do this...it did take a bit of time though.

Alligators in Twin Falls

Did you know there are alligators in Twin Falls, Idaho? Who knew?!

Ecuador

Scott and Amie have a great donkey named Ecuador. He is a very old donkey. In fact someone asked Amie if they could use him to breed. Amie then said, "I think he would have a heart attack if he tried that." The kids had fun with him.

Road Trip!

We went to the lovely metropolis of Twin Falls, Idaho this last weekend to visit our great friends, Scott and Amie Rasmussen and their 4 boys, Isaac, Collin, Wyatt, and Emmett. On our family road trips, we always have our select music that we love to listen to. We were rockin out to 'Summer Lovin' from Grease. We sound sooo good after much practice.

Swimming with the Cousins

Since Elynn and her girls were in town, we took advantage of hanging out together. Kim and her 3 kids, Elynn and her 3 girls, Me and my 3 kids, and Tanah, Grace, and Miles all went swimming at the indoor Clearfield Aquatic center. We had to do something indoors since it was snowing outside. We had a great time at the pool. They have lots of fun things for kids to do--splash zone, lazy river, water slide, etc.

Happy Easter

Yesterday, we went to Lance and Teresa's annual Easter Hunt. The kids always have fun with that one because they have to find the candy and then put it someone else's basket. Lance always does a cute job in talking about the real meaning of Easter and why you should give to others.

After that Easter Hunt, we went to my parent's house for the Annual Davidson Easter gathering. My mom goes way overboard in the candy eggs. They get waaay too much at their house, but it is fun. We had dinner and then the men went to the priesthood session of conference.

We had the fun opportunity to have the Housley cousins stay with us Saturday night and then do our morning Easter hunt with us. We colored eggs Saturday night, but the Easter bunny forgot to hide them. Morgan, Maddie and Reagan didn't have Easter baskets, so we improvised with Halloween buckets. Elynn and I made a late night trip to Walmart to get more candy and 'old mother hubbard' was bare there, so we went to Albertsons and they had plenty.

Sunday morning was fun with all of the kids discovering their Easter baskets with new flip flops for all. They also got an Easter bunny filled with candy. Cooper named him Mr. Fatty, "Because he ate too much candy."

Conference was great to watch. Lots of inspirational thoughts that I have now forgotten. I'm glad it comes out in the magazine and the internet, so I can refresh my old mind. The Housley's have an "adopted" uncle that is brand new to the Tabernacle Choir. He is black so he is easy to find. It was funny because the Housley girls would jump and yell, "There's Uncle George" whenever they saw him. Morgan also said, "It's fun to have someone famous." Allie saw him and said, "We see him at Costco."

It was a great Easter.

Why is it...?

Why is it that kids will go from a perfectly good area to play in, make a mess of it, and then take their toys to our bedroom to play?

God's April Fool's Joke on Us

Spring in Arizona is beautiful. We went by the Mesa Temple and saw the beautiful grounds with flowers and a cactus garden. The weather was about 78 degrees. Today we woke up to this. What happened to spring in Utah?!

Spring is Sprung at Spring Training

I thought the bathroom doors were great at the Cubs Stadium.

The one-touch on Prius.
Chris and I were able to go to Arizona March 25-27 for MLB spring training. The weather was beautiful, the games were nice and relaxed, and Chris and I had a fabulous time just hanging out together. We went to 3 games: Dodgers vs. Brewers, Giants vs. Angels, and Cubs vs. Padres. We also had fantastic seats. We drove around in a hybrid Prius--no we didn't have any brake issues. It was fun just to start a car with a touch of a button. We went to a restaurant called Taylor Ray's--kind of a dive, but good food. We also went to The Cheesecake Factory and Olive Garden. My diet went out the window, but this week, we have been better. It was just a great trip with my husband!

100 Years of Scouting

Chris is our ward's Cub Master. They are having their Blue and Gold Banquet tonight to celebrate Scouting's 100th birthday. He is having Lance do Magician tricks and had me make a birthday cake for it. It is quite big--16" X 24". It is 4 cake mixes. I had fun making it. Hopefully it will all get eaten because I love cake.

Pray for Jude

Our two month old nephew, Jude, is in a crisis! He has severe RSV and pneumonia. I went to see him at McKay-Dee Hospital this morning and he was sleeping like a little angel. Lucy and Jeff have been such troopers--poor them... I just found out he has to be life-flighted to Primary Children's because his levels have digressed. Please add an extra prayer for Jude and his family.

Colorful Pancake/Waffle Week

This week I made green waffles for breakfast on St. Patrick's Day. Today, Maggie made Allie purple and blue pancakes so she would feel better. Allie has a bit of a fever today, so they must have worked, because Allie is feeling tons better.

I'm an injured man!

Cooper ran into the post of the swingset yesterday with his face. He bruised up his nose and eye pretty good. This morning, he was counting his injuries and stated, "I'm and injured Man!" (When he had the bandaid on his nose he also said he looked like a football player.)

Great Brain Project

Today, Maggie had her Great Brain Project. She could pick anything to study and present on. She decided to do it on the History of Cinnamon rolls, their ingredients and end with a demonstration. She did an awesome job and made wonderful cinnamon rolls for her class. She did it the Rachel Ray way. Maggie did the demo and then had the finished product all ready for them.
