Salt Lake Spring Break Trip April 2-3

Our hotel we stayed at. (I forgot the camera when we were swimming.)Lots of fun fountains, pools, and creeks at City Creek Center. The girls weren't as adventurous as Cooper--they stayed on the outside of the fountain.Cooper trying to beat the fountain.Inside the Conference Center--even the fabric on the seats has acoustic qualities. On top the Convention Center--the high-rise to the right of the temple are $1 million apartments.Where the brides stand. We took the kids to Salt Lake on a mini-trip. We stayed at the Pavillion Hotel, went swimming in the nice, warm pool, and watched "The Muppets" in our room--on the laptop and not the 42" tv in the room. I forgot the cables to the portable dvd player. The next day, we ate breakfast at the hotel and then we went downtown and to the new City Creek Mall--with real trout in the stream that Cooper wanted to fish for, Temple Square, the Convention Center--over 1 million square feet with 6 acres of gardens on the rooftop, the Beehive House--Brigham had over 56 wives and 57 children, and lots of other stuff inbetween. We had a wonderful family day.

The Davidson Pre-Easter Egg Hunt

Grandma and Grandpa Davidson had their annual Easter Hunt--a week early after the the last Conference session. She had all the kids grouped according to age groups and this year added a "non-sugar" group: Maggie, Tyson, and Ethan. We had a nice dinner and a nice day.

Allie's Field Trip

Morgan, Tess, Joslyn, and Allie
I was able to go on Allie's 1st grade field trip to the new Natural History Museum up on University of Utah's campus in Salt Lake. It is a marvelous museum and Allie loved it. She only had 1 other girl in her group, Joslyn. Joslyn is a little spit-fire and doesn't listen very well. She is a cute little girl--with an identical twin. Allie loved the terrace on the top floor. It was a nice day and she and Josslyn loved exploring the outside. We could see the whole valley. Allie also loved the huge crocodile skeleton--especialy after watching a special on animal planet with Daddy.

Maggie's School Choir

Maggie performed in her Freedom Elementary School Choir again this year. She had practice every morning before school for 2 months. (Maggie carpooled with Cassidy Patterson, Burklee Dabb, and Colby Clay.) All of the Roy elementaries performed at Roy High on March 22nd at 7:00 PM. Their school sang "Crocodile Rock" and "Jump" a Van Halen song. (I thought that was an interesting choice of choir song.) She loved it and did well.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

St. Paddy's Day was fun here at our house. First we went Digging for Gold at the Roy Rec Center. The kids were able to go dive for coins and toys because some leprechauns dropped their crock of gold in the swimming pool. It was fun for them. After swimming at 8:30 in the morning, we had green shamrock pancakes, ham steak, and eggs. They were all dressed up in their green duds--especially Cooper. He even wanted to look like a leprechaun. So here he is with green face and red hair. The girls wanted to look cute, so they didn't go all out like Coop.
After a fun morning, we had a party waiting for us at the Meikles, but Cooper had to spoil that by getting a positive result of strep throat. Maggie had Strep on Thursday and Cooper was also cultured and his was negative. The office called on Friday saying he was still negative, but Saturday at 2:00 they said it was positive. Uh Oh! We exposed lots of people on Friday and Saturday. Whoops!
Well, Coop and Chris stayed home--Chris wasn't too disappointed because he watched NCAA tournament games. The girls' and I went to the fun party. We had the traditional corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes but also had lots of other green foods.

Indoor Soccer and Applebee's

Maggie has really enjoyed playing competition soccer and especially her teammates. They are all a real nice group of girls. Aleyah's dad, Ton, is a GM for Applebee's and had the whole team and their families go to Applebee's after the last indoor game. It was very nice of them. (We just had to pay for the adult meals. They even had an appetizer for each family too.)

Mary Todd Lincoln, AKA Maggie

Maggie dressed as Mary Todd Lincoln and showing "her" wedding band from Abraham that says "Love is Eternal."
Abraham (Edwin) and Mary Todd Lincoln (Maggie)

The fifth grade at Freedom Elementary did a Living History Museum program. Maggie was chosen from her class to do her presentation as Mary Todd Lincoln. We made her costume from Allie's Scarlet O'Hara dress and it ended up looking like Mary's inaugural ball dress. She did a super-fantastic job and even donned a southern accent from Kentucky. Maggie was even quoted in the Standard Examiner. It was a superb program with the presentations and singing. Good job Mary-Maggie!

He's Playing Bas-Ket-Ball!

Cooper enjoyed playing Jr. Jazz basketball again this year. He is so fun to watch--especially when he brings the ball down the court. He hunches over as he dribbles. Coop is not extremely tall, so he even looks smaller as he hunches. He is quite agressive on the court too. He had lots of fun playing with his buddies--Aiden Hein, Justin Plane, Grant, Ryder, CJ, and a couple others. Justin's dad, Jeff was the coach.

Allie's 1st Friend Late-Over

McKenzie, Allie, and Ashlyn
The appetizer of choice.
Allie earned a late-over and invited Ashlyn and McKenzie over. They had dinner up in Allie's room--complete with menus. Allie was the waitress at first, but then mommy helped out. They had appetizers, main course, drinks, and dessert. She had several options for them to choose from. After dinner, they played and watched a movie.

Happy Valentine's Day

Heart-shaped pink pancakes, chocolate-covered strawberries(Maggie had strawberries dipped in sugar free chocolate sauce), red shirts, and roses were the items delivered to my sweethearts. Love my family!! I actually received the roses from my sweetheart! Chris and I went to a late dinner at Texas Roadhouse and the kids got a heart-shaped pizza from Papa Murphy's. Everyone was pleased. Happy Valentine's Day!
